ALVAREZ TO ASIA | Bonehead Picks

The EDDIE ALVAREZ raffle is over; and the winner is….. ONE CHAMPIONSHIP. The now former  UFC and BELLATOR lightweight star and champion is heading back to Asia for the 1st time since he fought for DREAM. The 34 year old will most likely be just the 1st of many to accept an offer from CEO CHATRI SITYODTONG. One FC has just gotten a large infusion of cash, and they are looking to spend it. So now the UFC, and Bellator have another company to pick off talent; besides the PFL. He was given offers by both Bellator and the UFC. It was originally thought he’d jump to the PFL in looking to become their “face”; as well as cut through the lightweights and claim next years million dollar prize. Although the terms of this contract were not publicly announced, it is suspected to be well over that.

A source close to Eddie informed me he will continue to maintain his residence in the tri-state area. Which means lots of back and forth travel. He will continue to train with Ricardo Almeida, and at Catone MMA. The 29-6 1NC fighter leaves the UFC on a 1-2 1NC streak; bookended by the TKO loses to CONOR MCGREGOR and DUSTIN POIRIER“THE UNDERGROUND KING”; has 14 1st round finishes; the last of which won him the UFC lightweight strap off of RDA; until Conor took it at UFC 205. The path to their lightweight belt is an easier one. Presently it’s vacant as their champ-champ MARTIN NGUYEN  was stripped due to an injury. There’s an outside chance he can make his debut on their December 7th card “DESTINY OF CHAMPIONS”; which goes down at the AXIATA ARENA in KUALA LUMPUR.
