So Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix semi finals are set. It’s CHAEL SONNEN vs FEDOR EMELIANENKO and MATT MITRIONE vs RYAN “DARTH” BADER. Ryan merked Muhammed Lawal in just 15 seconds to be the last of the semi finalists. Both moved to the center with Bader throwing a stinging left hook that put Mo on his backside. Bader went after him landing GNP till referee MIKE BELTRAN jumped in to stop it. Both semi final fights have yet to be decided where and when they’ll take place although president SCOTT COKER has teased the east coast will get at least one of them. JON FITCH was making his Bellator debut against PAUL DALEY; who’s had his run ins with the company. The duo had an intense staredown Friday night. Paul was playing smart early on; staying away not wanting to be taken down. In a clinch Paul managed to land some decent shots. Daley wanting to continue that pattern eventually got taken down. Jon landed some GNP but nothing too serious. The pattern of Jon grinding Paul continued for the rest of the fight as Jon picked up a unanimous decision win.

CHEICK KONGO admittedly did no research on his opponent; JAVY AYALA. Javy came forward backing up the MMA veteran. In a clinch Kongo landed some knees. With his back to the cage Cheick landed a short right hand that dropped Javy and finished him off with hammer fists. The KO was his 1st stoppage in 4 years and came at 2:29 into round 1. ADAM PICCOLOTTI picked up his 7th finish. The RNC also was the 1st pro loss for CARRINGTON BANKS and came with 20 seconds left in the fight. Banks was able to take Adam down and then rocked him with a solid right. Adam got his own takedowns and was unsuccessful attempting armbars. As the fight went on Adam picked up the pace attempting a RNC. After some GNP it was successful the 2nd time. AARON PICO only needed 70 seconds to land a left to the body of debuting LEE MORRISON that crumbled him to the canvas.

CASS BELL had a successful pro debut; locking in a guillotine at 3:27 of round 2 on KHAI WU.   JORDAN WILLIAMS TKO’d BRANDON HESTER 1:11 of round 2 after opening cuts on his head thanks to slashing elbows. Two former INVICTA featherweights debuted for Bellator against each other as AMBER LEIBROCK and JANAY HARDING threw down. They both truly brought it as Amber was just a bit better; picking up a unanimous decision win. JAMES TERRY did the same to   DANASABE MOHAMMED. Referee FRANK TRIGG stopped the fight between GASTON BOLANOS and MALCOLM HILL 2:54 of round 1. Gaston tore up Hill’s lead leg and he was just unable to continue. Gaston; with the TKO sets himself up nicely in the featherweight division. DAVID RIVERA tapped to a triangle choke with 33 seconds left in round 1 from JUSTIN TENEDORA DERON WINN picked up his 4th 1st round finish. This one was a TKO 2:32 to AHMED WHITE.
