BELLATOR‘s flyweight champion; ILIMA-LEI MACFARLANE improved to 9-0 after dispatching the most well rounded opponent to date in VALERIE LETOURNEAU. She received a hero’s welcome from the hometown crowd. In what may be Valerie’s last shot at getting a title she came out very cautious. On the ground; Ilima’s grappling was a big advantage. She was relentless in trying for a finish and finally got it 3:19 of the final round via triangle. LYOTO MACHIDA had his long awaited Bellator debut. Coming against the tough former middleweight champ RAFAEL CARVALHO is no easy task. However he totally outworked Rafael despite getting rocked a couple of times. After the split decision win he re-iterated his desire for a title shot vs MOUSASI, or even a fight vs FEDOR. The welterweight grand prix continued with an electric match of unbeaten rising prospects; NEIMAN GRACIE, and ED RUTH. The winner would be getting an extra bonus; a crack at the title in the next round vs either JON FITCH or RORY MACDONALD. Neiman did what Gracie’s do; search for submissions early and often. He also let his hands fly as they exchanged a couple of times. Ed had issues with the pace Neiman set and slowed down as the fight went on. After a 4th round takedown Gracie locked in the winning RNC at 2:17.

LIAM MCGEARY used his size advantage over KING MO to strike hard and fast. King Mo was never really able to get inside of his range. When he did try to take Liam down he was pounded. Mo was cracked and dropped with a straight right. Then referee CHRIS WEST jumped in for the TKO 53 seconds into the 1st round. The win breaks McGeary’s 2 fight losing streak, and has King Mo saying its time he drop down to 185. NAINOA DUNG TKO’d KONA OLIVEIRA 2:05 into the 3rd round. DUSTIN BARCA won by split decision over ISAAC HOPPSMAKI PITOLO made CHRIS CISNEROS tap to a RNC 2:40 into the 3rd round. SHOJIN MIKI dropped a unanimous decision to KAI KAMAKA III.
