Blue Jays Release Troy Tulowitzki

The Troy Tulowitzki era in Toronto is officially over.

Tulowitzki, a former all-star and at one time one of the best players in the game, has been released by the Toronto Blue Jays after three sub-par and injury plagued seasons.

Tulowitzki last played in a Major League game in 2017, missing all of the 2018 season due to bone spurs in both heels.

He is a .290 career hitter and has been on the downward trend ever since being traded to Toronto during the 2015 season.

Luckily for them, the prospects they sent to Colorado in the deal for Tulo three years ago haven’t amounted to anything special. Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro and Jesus Tinoco were the three prospects Colorado acquired for Tulo.

At 34 years old, it is highly unlikely he will ever recapture his old form, but there surely will be a team that will take a chance on Tulowitzki.

The Blue Jays still owe Tulowitzki $38 million over the next two seasons.
