The Oldest living Major League Baseball Hall of Famer has passed away.

Bobby Doerr, who spent 27 seasons as a player and coach for the Boston Red Sox, passed away on Monday at the age of 99.

He is the only Hall of Famer to make it to 99 years old.

Doerr was a nine time All-Star who manned the second base position. He finished with a .288 career average and hit 223 career home runs.

The most telling statistic in regards to his career is the fact out of his 14 years in the big leagues, only two seasons he finished with more strikeouts than walks. One of those seasons he only had 170 plate appearances, which was his rookie season. He finished with 201 LESS strikeouts than walks for his career.

That is pretty impressive.

Rest in peace Mr. Doerr.
