It is that winning tradition once again on Memorial Day Weekend where we have the running of the Indianapolis 500 and the Grand Prix of Monoco. All this will be capped off with NASCAR’s longest race of the season, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 600 miles and 400 laps which will be split into four stages and allow more points to be earned and go toward their playoff points. It has also been a historic week announcing the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame class in which I have yet to review.

In the meantime, Kyle Busch picked up his third pole of the season and the third of his career at Charlotte. He will also look for his first official win at Charlotte at any race, in which last season’s All-Star victory doesn’t count. Kyle finished runner-up three times, including last season’s race winner Austin Dillon. He still leads the points heading into Charlotte, but only by 12 points over Joey Logano. Since winning three in a row, Kyle has finished once in the top ten in the last three races.

Jimmie Johnson (23rd) owns the most active wins with eight, the most recent was the 2016 Fall race. With only four top tens however, he has yet to pick up his first 2018 win. Johnson is currently riding a 40-race winless streak, which is said to be the longest of his career. In the first four mile and a half tracks run so far, Johnson has finished 12th or worst. Luckily, Johnson is 12th in points and 14th in the playoff standings, providing that he can earn some higher finishes or win.

While he has the most wins in the Monster Energy Series, Kevin Harvick (39th) has four wins. He has won at three of the four mile and a half tracks run this season, with Kyle winning at Texas. With Ford winning seven of the first 12 races in 2018, Harvick has won five of them, Clint Bowyer at Martinsville and Logano at Talladega. Ford in fact has won three in a row in 2018. Bowyer and Logano each have won at Charlotte.
