Cubs and Darvish Agree to Six Year Deal

Did YU see this coming?

The Chicago Cubs filled an empty spot in their rotation by signing possibly the best free agent pitcher left on the board in Yu Darvish.

The deal is reportedly worth $126 million over six years.

With Yu’s injury history and his horrendous performances in the World Series, it’s very surprising to see Darvish receive six years for that much money especially with such a stagnant free agency period.

The Cubs are taking a huge risk in giving Darvish six years. They’re taking their chances on Darvish to return to his dominant form from back in Texas and hoping he does not perform the way he did in the World Series.

Could this be the first domino to fall in a series of signings?

The remaining free agents are certainly hoping so.
