Call him “MIGHTY MOUSE”, “MIGHTY”, “POUND-FOR-POUND KING”, DEMETRIOUS, or MR. JOHNSON; what you now need to call him is Mr. Record Breaker. UFC 152 DEMETRIOUS JOHNSON beat JOSEPH BENAVIDES and hasn’t looked back since. That was 13 fights ago. What makes him so dangerous is once he figures out an opponents deficiencies that’s what he attacks. Now he hasn’t by any means just merked the last 13 fighters. They’ve all had their moments; no matter how small. But the only UFC flyweight champion always finds a way. Much like in the main event it was a case of young hungry lion vs old lion. RAY BORG has had his issues; including falling ill just before the 2 were to meet as UFC 215 headliners.

The 24 year old Borg, was definitely ready for this one. Ray came within 1:45 of going the distance with the champ. Not that it would have probably gone his way; but he was quicker in transitions than the champ had expected. And despite being greatly outstruck out worked and out grappled; he did have his moments. It started off with Ray checking all of Demetrious’s low kicks; but he’d get tagged with the body ones. Borg also for a second had Johnson’s back, only to be shaken off. Demetrious was able to take Ray down and work from top control to side control multiple times. He also landed short elbows, knees, and punches from half guard. As Johnson went to suplex Ray to the mat he cinched in an arm bar before the pair hit the canvas; rolled with it locking it in tighter until Ray had no choice but to tap at 3:15 of the 5th round.

So the Mouse now sits alone at the top of the mountain surpassing ANDERSON SILVA’s record with 11 title defenses. The next record is Anderson’s 16 consecutive wins. It’s conceivable though that those next 4 fights may not all be in the flyweight division.
