The NBA offseason has been full of interesting transactions featuring big names. NBA All-Stars like Chris Paul, Jimmy Butler, and Paul George have all changed teams and will acclimate themselves to new teams and new cities during the 2017-18 NBA season. The biggest name that may still change teams is New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony. Although Anthony is no longer a legitimate NBA star like guys like Chris Paul and Jimmy Butler, he is still capable of providing a team help with his natural scoring abilities. There are three teams that have been mentioned as potential destinations that Carmelo Anthony could be traded.  Those three teams are the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Houston Rockets, and the Portland Trail Blazers. Here are the best possible trade destinations featuring Anthony that could benefit both Anthony and the New York Knicks.

The third best trade destination for Carmelo Anthony is the Cleveland Cavaliers. Trading Anthony to Cleveland for forward Kevin Love and guard Kay Felder makes the most sense for both teams in terms of a Carmelo Anthony trade. Because of Anthony’s salary, only trading Kevin Love back to the Knicks makes the most sense in a trade. Also, he would be able to play power forward next to LeBron James. The Cavaliers would gain a player who can create his own shot better than Kevin Love but who is also a worse rebounder and passer. Kevin Love would be a strange fit in New York, who already has a talented power forward in Kristaps Porzingis, so he would have to possibly play center for the Knicks and he could use his creative passing from the frontcourt. The addition of Kay Felder would give the Knicks a young guard with the potential of becoming a rotational player with scoring potential.

The second best trade destination for Carmelo Anthony is the Portland Trail Blazers. Although the Trail Blazers haven’t been mentioned as a team that Anthony would prefer to join, there seems to be interest from Trail Blazers players about acquiring a veteran of Anthony’s caliber. A trade that would work is trading Carmelo Anthony to Portland for forward Al-Farouq Aminu, swingman Evan Turner, and guard Pat Connaughton. Adding Carmelo Anthony to a team that features a very good backcourt with Damian Lillard and C. J. McCollum would be very interesting. McCollum and Lillard are a smaller backcourt but adding Anthony would give the Trail Blazers a versatile frontcourt with Anthony, Maurice Harkless, and Jusuf Nurkić. The Knicks would receive Aminu and Turner to assist the team now and Turner could play the small forward position that Anthony previously occupied.

The best trade destination for Carmelo Anthony is the Houston Rockets. The team that has been most often linked to acquiring Anthony makes the most sense in terms of fit for him and the team acquiring him. He could be traded to Houston for forward Ryan Anderson, forward Trevor Ariza, and forward Chinanu Onuaku. Anthony would fill in at the power forward spot and newly acquired Rockets forwards P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah a Moute could be the defensive specialists for the small forward position. The Knicks could use Anderson as the super sub role that he was so effective at when he was in New Orleans. Ariza would give Kristaps Porzingis spacing while playing small forward. Experienced veterans like Anderson and Ariza could help the Knicks learn about what professionalism looks like from a player standpoint.
