Five Fantasy Football Quick Adds

At this point in the fantasy football season, you are either chomping at the bits knowing a fantasy title is in reach, or you’ve already given up cause everything has and will continue to go wrong.

Last fantasy season, everything went wrong not because of injuries for me, but because I had faced the toughest schedule in the league, entering week 7 with a 1-5 record. This season, I had an identical difficult schedule but am sitting at 4-2 even with T.Y. Hilton being out the past two weeks and getting nothing from Chris Hogan and Lamar Miller. Hilton’s two weeks out led to my two losses, but I slowly but surely have been strengthening my bench with long and short term adds.

So without further ado, here are five quick adds for your consideration in the short term (Steelers on the bye is killing those with Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith Schuster) or the long term (Devonta Freeman and Jay Ajayi done for the season). Just to give you all a heads up, the first three listed I have picked up within the past two weeks.

Ito Smith (Atlanta Falcons) –

Smith had already been on fantasy radars in deeper leagues due to Atlanta’s consistent use of him inside the five yard line, making him a touchdown dependant play for the first six weeks. Now, he sits as Tevin Coleman’s backup with Devonta Freeman being put on injured reserve. Smith will get the red zone carries and be the change of pace back, resulting in double digit weekly points the rest of the season especially in PPR leagues.

Marlon Mack (Indianapolis Colts) –

Mack returned after being out for a few weeks with injuries. The Colts running attack had been rather lackluster with Mack on the shelf. Mack returned last week and rushed for more than seven yards per carry on just a dozen touches. Mack’s ability to find the holes will open up the passing game for Andrew Luck, especially play action. Mack’s inept pass catching ability hurts his value, but a game against Buffalo this week is a money play as your Flex. He should be the feature back the rest of the way too, adding value to TY Hilton and Eric Ebron because of defenses needing to play the run.

Willie Snead (Baltimore Ravens) –

Snead has been rather consistent in PPR leagues this season. Only scoring under 10 points once all season. A very attractive game against New Orleans is on tap this week and Snead could be a great WR3 or Flex play with many quality players on the bye this week. Plus, he’s taking on the Saints defense.

Jermaine Kearse (New York Jets) –

As said in the Snead blurb, there are a lot of quality wide receivers on the bye this week. Kearse is owned in less than 10% of Yahoo leagues as of this writing. Kearse is the Jets’ new slot receiver while Quincy Enunwa sits out with injury and that could mean for another strong performance replicating last week, where he topped 18 points in PPR leagues. Sam Darnold is airing the ball out more and is being complimented by a solid running attack, giving Kearse an opportunity to get some open targets. He may not be an end zone target, but he should see at least 10 targets in an offense that is on the rise.

Indianapolis Colts Defense –

The Colts defense is pretty bad honestly. However, any defense lined up to take on the Buffalo Bills is due for a big day. Unfortunately for the Colts, Nathan Peterman is not starting and instead veteran Derek Anderson will get the nod. Even present day Jim Kelly would be better than Peterman. Anderson has only been in a Bills uniform for less than two weeks, so his knowledge of the playbook will be minimal. Owners who are in the streaming defense stage of the season should take a flier on the Colts D.
