Ford On A Roll Headed Into Fontana

As I have said before, if you think that Toyota would continue to have a say after the end of 2017, well it doesn’t look that way as Ford has begun to make some noise heading into Fontana. Most likely the biggest reason is Kevin Harvick winning three races in a row, unless you want to count the encumbered win, but pesonally it counts anyway. Harvick will be looking to make it four in a row, which is a rarity in NASCAR, but his performance have paved the way for other Ford drivers.

Two of his Stewart-Haas Racing teammates are in the top ten while he leads the regular season. Clint Bowyer and Aric Almirola and ninth and tenth respectively, each of them with at least two top ten finishes. Bowyer has one top five which is a third place finish at Atlanta, while Alrimola on the other hand has shown from great improvent since joining the team, finishing in the top ten in the last two. Almirola’s best finish so far is seventh in Phoenix and the move so far is paying off.

Stewart-Haas isn’t the only team making noise in the top ten. With the addition of Ryan Blaney, Team Penske has also taken over with Joey Logano as the best driver. Logano sits fourth in points and Blaney fifth with Brad Keselowski seventh. Logano has three top tens including a best finish of fourth in the Daytona 500 and Blaney winning the pole at Las Vegas along with best finish of fifth. Keselowski has a best finish of second in Atlanta behind Harvick.

There are only three Toyotas and one Chevrolet in the top ten, the lone Chevy being Kyle Larson in eigtht. Kyle Busch is the highest ranking Toyota in second, Martin Truex Jr third and Denny Hamlin sixth. Additions to both SHR and Penske seemed to have helped Ford overall as it has trumped Toyota early and stopped the sudden growth of Chevrolet.
