Former Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams to Wrestle For Impact Wrestling

DeAngelo Williams is trading in his helmet and shoulder pads for wrestling trunks.

The current free agent Running Back and former Pittsburgh Steeler and Carolina Panther was announced as Moose’s tag team partner for Slammiversary, Impact Wrestling signature PPV event which takes place on July 2nd.

Moose (real name Quinn Ojinnaka) was a former offensive lineman who played for the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams and Indianapolis Colts over six seasons. He had a very quiet NFL career and turned his focus to professional wrestling. Since his debut in the Ring of Honor promotion in 2014, Moose has had a very good wrestling career, including becoming Impact Grand Champion in December of 2016.

As for DeAngelo Williams, it is well known that he is a huge professional wrestling fan. A few weeks ago Williams had stopped by the Impact Wrestling headquarters in Nashville, which was posted on the Impact Wrestling YouTube page.

Williams does not have any professional wrestling experience in the ring to my knowledge. However, that has not stopped former NFL players before him from making an impact.

From Kevin Greene to Steve “Mongo” McMichael to Adam “Pacman” Jones, all have achieved some sort of success in professional wrestling in some way or another. Each had little or no experience in the squared circle prior to their debuts.

We’ll find out on July 2nd if Williams can stand toe to toe with Eli Drake and Chris Adonis.

I sure am going to miss DeAngelo Williams, he helped me win a fantasy football championship in week 17 last year.
