Ichiro Returns to Seattle

Ichiro Suzuki is finishing his storied career in the place where it all began.

Ichiro and the Seattle Mariners have agreed to a one year deal, giving the 44 year old outfielder an opportunity to go off into the sunset with the team he started his Major League career with back in 2001.

He currently holds the all-time combined hits record between both Japan and the United States, accumulating 4,358 hits over his professional career. Pete Rose is the all-time Major League Baseball hits leader at 4,256 total; to give you some perspective on how great of a hitter Ichiro has been during his career.

This will most likely be his final year in baseball, barring a good season that would force either Seattle or another team to sign him due to his continuing production.

He will most likely be a fourth outfielder and be a designated hitter for the Mariners this season and will mentor the young guys on the roster in any way he can.

Welcome back to Seattle, Ichiro.
