Bellator 201 from the PECHANGA RESORT AND CASINO saw their bright stars remain undefeated. Most notably was flyweight champion ILIMA-LEI MACFARLANE. Before her fight vs ALEJANDRA LARA she noted that Lara was double jointed and may need to try and submit her despite how tough that would be. Ilima-Lei came forward early and once the fight was taken to the mat she tried to no avail an armbar and triangle choke. The pair threw leather starting the 2nd then exchanged knees in the clinch. Macfarlane was able to get a takedown and landed elbows from the top. All the while looking for a choke that wasn’t there. Alejandra came out firing kicks and strikes in the 3rd; but Macfarlane was able to drag her back down. From the top elbows kept landing while she continued searching for an armbar. Eventually Ilima-Lei locked it in but Lara fought it valiantly but wound up tapping at 3:55. Five of her 8 wins come via submission.

SAAD AWAD came charging out landing power shots to RYAN COUTURE. He also stuffed the son of HOF’er Randy’s takedown attempts. Saad connected with a solid straight right that rocked Couture. Awad’s assault continued till referee JASON HERZOG saw enough at 4:29 of the opening round for the TKO. KRISTINA WILLIAMS had stopped HEATHER HARDY and EMILY DUCOTE. Now she was going to try to stop former UFC star VALERIE LETOURNEAU. Both threw kicks early and Kristina dropped her. Valerie returned the favor via a monstrous right hook, then landed GNP. They continued that pattern in the 2nd frame. They decided to go rock em sock em robot in the 3rd. Valerie got a takedown and worked her which helped her pick up the unanimous decision win. Afterwards she called out champion Ilima-Lei. JUAN ARCHULETA and ROBBIE PERALTA threw hands and knees at a crazy pace, with Juan being just a tick better. An overhand right 14 seconds into round 3 is when a solid overhand right put Robbie back on the canvas for good. The win moves Juan to 19-1.

The night began with 3 of the companies top undefeated prospects staying that way. TYRELL FORTUNE went to 5-0 after TKO’ing GIOVANI SARRAN. They exchanged knees in the clinch till Tyrell got a nice takedown and laid some GNP. Eventually it opened up Sarran’s nose. Fortune slowed the pace but continued getting takedowns and landing hammer fists until referee FRANK TRIGG stopped the fight at 4:35 of the 2nd round. JOEY DAVIS moved to 4-0 after a unanimous decision win over CRAIG PLASKETT. Craig showed incredible heart taking a massive beating, being bloodied after some great exchanges and not quitting. ED RUTH threw hands while ANDY MURAD looked to land low leg kicks. Rights and lefts were piston-like and opened up cuts under both of Andy’s eyes. A rocking combo against the cage 4:59 of round 2 is when referee JASON HERZOG jumped in to stop the fight.

The postlim fights saw 23 year old JORDAN YOUNG improve to 9-0. The whole fight was not going his way against JAMAL POGUES as he was staring at his 1st loss. In a scramble from his back Jordan was able to lock in an arm triangle that Jamal tapped to at 3:50 of round 3. Seven of those 9 wins are via submission. KERI MELENDEZ and 23 year old TIANI VALLE let their hands fly early with Keri getting the better of it. They also exchanged some low leg kicks. But a vicious straight right by Keri dropped her young opponent. She then jumped on her locking in a RNC. The tap then came 2:46 into round 1. JAY JAY WILSON also picked up a submission win via RNC vs DAVID CONTE. That one was 59 seconds into the fight. JACOB ROSALES and RICKY FURAR both won by unanimous decisions over JOSHUA JONES and VICTOR ROSAS respectively. After the card it was announced 9 fighters came in over the 10% allowance. The CSAC can now recommend all 9 be forced to move up a division.
