Indians Acquire Jay Bruce From Mets

The dog days of summer are here as we head down the home stretch to September. Teams are still making last minute tweaks and trades depending on their position.

The Cleveland Indians made a move out of urgency.

THAT urgency is not just because of the most recent disabled list stint for outfielder Michael Brantley. It is because the team wants to get back in the World Series and this time close the deal.

What did they decide to do?

They traded for power hitting outfielder Jay Bruce, acquiring him for a minor league pitcher.

The price tag is surprisingly low for a guy who has mashed 29 home runs this season and driven in 75. Especially for someone with a proven track record like Bruce.

There are also reports the Mets refused to trade Bruce to the New York Yankees, even though the team reportedly offered MORE for Bruce than the Indians did.

Cleveland must feel lucky that Mets GM Sandy Alderson has completely lost his marbles in regards to his refusal to trade Bruce to the Bronx Bombers.

The Indians now have a major piece of their puzzle in place. It’s now up to them to lock up the AL Central.

As for the Mets, it’s time to evaluate the youngsters and do away with the aging veterans with expiring contracts.

Just remember you have the roster to compete in 2018.
