Jay Bruce to Return to Mets on Three Year Deal

Jay Bruce was once the guy the Mets wanted to do away with after being a rental for the 2016 season.

Now, he became the Mets number one priority to bring back.

After trading Bruce over the summer to Cleveland, the Mets and Bruce agreed to a three year $39 million deal on Wednesday.

Bruce has been one of the more consistent power hitters of the past decade, eclipsing the 30 home run mark five of the past seven seasons, including a 36 home run campaign in 2017 between both the Indians and Mets.

Even with a low on-base percentage and an average glove in the outfield, Bruce brings a much needed bat back to the Mets lineup for 2018.

He may also be a candidate to go to first base if Dominic Smith struggles early and often during the 2018 campaign.
