Kevin Harvick Wins At Las Vegas

Kevin Harvick picked up where he left off when he won in Atlanta in both Xfinity and Monster Energy, and just handled the Pennzoil 400 like it was nothing. Starting second alongside pole sitter Ryan Blaney, Harvick took over the lead on lap 2 and led the next 37. The only times Harvick lost the lead is during pit stops and always found a way to regain it back. Once retaking the lead, it would be smooth sailing all the way to his second win of 2018 and showing Ford is the strongest right now.

With only 11 lead changes, Harvick led the most with 219. In only three races, he has already led 395 laps total and now has taken over the points lead for the regular season. In a combination of Monster Energy, Xfinity and Camping World, Harvick has won a combined 100 races since 2000. With the 39th win of his career in Monster energy, it has only taken his four plus seasons with Stewart-Haas Racing to reach 16 wins while taking 13 years to reach 23. Along with dominating the whole race, he won all three stages.

He has three stage wins along with 13 playoff points making him an early runaway leader. The only other driver in the playoffs is Austin Dillon winning this year’s Daytona 500. Dillon and Joey Logano led the points before Las Vegas and Logano led 25 laps as he tried to snap a winless streak going back to Richmond of last season (encumbered). Kyle Busch tried to win again in his hometown in which he only led 10 laps and finished second. Kurt got loose and collected Chase Elliott knocking both out.

While it looked as like Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota would pick up where they left off, Ford is beginning to have a say. Five Fords are in the top ten with three of them in the top three. It is now time to head to Harvick’s most favorite track: Phoenix.
