Le’Veon Bell, Amari Cooper and Kelly Bryant – Jerry’s World

I’m finally taking the time to sit down and put the proverbial pen to paper to write an article. I just don’t have much time to write. I wish I did have more time. I do love to write.

There has been a lot going on from the Le’Veon Bell holdout and the Dallas Cowboys trading a first round draft pick to acquire Amari Cooper to former Clemson starting quarterback, Kelly Bryant announcing he is transferring and taking an official visit to my Arkansas Razorbacks.

Firstly, when will Le’Veon Bell show up to work, speculation is since he didn’t report to the Steelers before the bye week and accept a check on a week off, then all signs point to him showing up at the end of the trade deadline which is 30 October. It seems he doesn’t want to be traded to just any team for who knows what the Steelers can get for a 26-year-old Bell. Bell’s holdout has certainly affected my fantasy team. When Bell does show up, and he will because to be eligible for free agency and the big pay day he wants he must show up the Tuesday after week 10, how long will it take Bell to regain his old form, or will he get hurt, from not being in football shape. We will find out. I hope.

Secondly, my beloved Dallas Cowboys traded their 2019 first round draft pick for ex Oakland Raiders’ wide receiver Amari Cooper. As a Cowboys fan, I like this pick. The Cowboys are in dire need of a receiver that can stretch the field and make defenses stop putting all their focus on stopping Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys run game. Cooper has been inconsistent for sure. It even looks like Cooper takes plays and maybe even games off. In 2015 he had 72 receptions for 1,070 yards and 6 TDs. In 2016 Cooper racked up 83 catches for 1,153 yards and 5 TDs. In 2017 he had 48 receptions for 680 yards and 7 TDs, and so far in 2018 Amari has 22 catches for 280 yards and only one TD.

Part of me thinks Dallas gave too much up for Amari Cooper, but then if Dallas would have used that draft pick in the draft for a receiver, they certainly couldn’t have got a better receiver than him. I hope Cooper just needed a change of scenery and different coach to motivate him. I went and traded for Cooper in one of my fantasy leagues and I’m trying to get him in another. I’ll take a flier on him, maybe he can get going, but then again how long will that take?

And finally, my beloved Arkansas Razorback team is hopefully in the mix for recent Clemson QB transfer, Kelly Bryant. Bryant had an official visit to Fayetteville this weekend where he was wearing a Razorback hat and seen calling the Hogs in the audience. I’m glad the Razorbacks won that game against Tulsa for Bryant’s visit. Bryant has said he doesn’t want to be recruited. I can understand that, he is a 22-year-old that has been thru the recruiting process once before and he was recruited by current Arkansas Razorback head coach Chad Morris, while Morris was the offensive coordinator at Clemson. Bryant also visited North Carolina and has a scheduled visit to Missouri this weekend.

I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that Bryant chooses Arkansas to finish his master’s degree. I think he would instantly boost Arkansas’ chances of winning games and it would certainly help recruiting to have an experienced 16-2 QB leading your offense, not to mention his experience in the college football playoffs.

Check back in and see when Le’Veon Bell reports to the Steelers, if Amari Cooper can make a difference in Dallas and if Kelly Bryant will rejoin the coach that recruited him in Arkansas.
