Oakland Raiders name Ken Norton Jr Defensive Coordinator

The Oakland Raiders have now, for the most part, completed their coaching staff by hiring Ken Norton Jr. as the defensive coordinator. At this point it looks like a great hire. Coach Jack Del Rio is familiar with Norton as they played 3 seasons together in Dallas during there playing days.

Norton comes to Oakland with a lot of experience. He’s spent the last 5 seasons as the linebacker coach in Seattle. The past two seasons Seattle has had the best defense in the NFL and Norton is a big part of that. Norton coached the linebackers at USC for 6 years and then became the Assistant Coach before heading to Seattle. Norton knows what it takes to win. He played for 18 years and won three Super Bowls in a row. The new D. coordinator has plenty of experience, gets along with Jack and knows what it takes to win. It’s a good hire for Oakland.

Jack Del Rio made it clear that if the D. Coordinator wasn’t experienced he would call the plays but it looks like Norton will get the go ahead. It didn’t take long for the two to come to a deal so look out. The next Raider defense should be scary, Oakland’s only getting better folks.

Anyone else notice how eerily similar his name is to John C. Reilly’s character’s name in Talladega Nights lol?

      Cal Naughton Jr.
      Love the comparison!
      Great movie, and great article!

Hopefully your Raiders can do something this season, Ryker.
