Omega Signs With AEW, Jericho Interrupts

The hot button question in the professional wrestling world over the past few months surrounded one Kenny Omega.

Where will Kenny Omega go?

Omega’s contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling finished up at the end of January and there were heavy rumblings in regards to where Omega would end up. Numerous reports stated Omega was offered a monstrous deal by World Wrestling Entertainment, an offer that would make him one of the highest paid superstars in professional wrestling.

However, even with that potential offer on the table, Omega announced on Thursday evening he has signed with All Elite Wrestling and will be their Executive Vice President at the Double or Nothing press conference in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.

Shortly following that huge announcement, Omega was interrupted by a familiar adversary.

With Chris Jericho’s quick slap to the face of Omega, your main event for Double or Nothing in May at MGM Grand in Las Vegas became official.

These two had an outstanding match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 back in January of 2018, one of the best matches in professional wrestling for 2018. What better way to introduce AEW to potential new fans by having arguably the two biggest names of the promotion square off for their second ever encounter.

Fans worldwide know Chris Jericho due to his time in WWE and his name brings instant legitimacy to AEW’s brand. While Omega may arguably be the biggest name in pro wrestling outside of WWE, he is not as well known and this provides a great opportunity for viewers to see Omega in action and why he is one of the best.

So far, five matches have been announced for Double or Nothing with Jericho v. Omega II headlining the card.

I had said last month that Omega’s decision would be make or break for AEW. Time for AEW to MAKE some noise.
