PFL MILLION DOLLAR FINALS SET

We’re that much closer to finding out which 6 fighters will have an amazing New Year’s in New York. They’ll become millionaires on the 31st as they win their divisions finals as the PFL wraps it’s inaugural season. Which by the way went better than expected; in case you weren’t paying attention. That’s not to say however they didn’t have their “controversial moments”; and even the possibility of re-looking at some rules.

Here’s the way the finals will break down:

HEAVYWEIGHT: JOSH COPELAND – PHILIPE LINSLIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: VINNY MAGALHAES – SEAN O’CONNELLMIDDLEWEIGHT: ABUSUPIYAN MAGOMEDOV – LOUIS TAYLORWELTERWEIGHT: RAY COOPER 3 – MAGOMED MAGOMEDKERIMOVLIGHTWEIGHT: NATAN SCHULTE – RASHID MAGOMEDOVFEATHERWEIGHT: STEVEN SILER – LANCE PALMER

We got to this point as the last week of the playoffs finished in our nations capital. ABUSUPIYAN  advanced after a dominating wrestling unanimous decision over SADIBOU SY and taking the 1st round of a draw with BRUNO SANTOSRAY continued his tear through the division with his 3rd and 4th TKO finishes in the tourney. First he cracked JAKE SHIELDS for the 2nd time; avenging his father’s loss to Jake years ago. Then he avenged his own loss on the regional circuit last November to HANDESSON FERREIRA with a flurry of lefts on the ground 2:28 into round 1. LOUIS made it to the finals after picking up a unanimous decision over REX HARRIS where they both seemed to run out of gas early. After the fight he said he was not at all happy the way he fought. He then battled JOHN HOWARD. John was rocked and dropped early and Taylor got stung midway through the 2nd. Enter the “controversial moment of the night”. He was landing shots on John, then got top control over HOWARD; who used a complete attack to defeat  EDDIE GORDON; when he appeared to land an illegal knee with 2 seconds left in round 2. He could have been DQ’d right there. But the officials; including RAY SEFO; discussed the situation and decided it would go to the judge’s scorecards with John not being able to go on. Taylor took round 1 and was declared winner by technical draw. MAGOMEDKERIMOV had an interesting trip to the finals as well. First he took on a much better fighter in PAVLO KUSCH; who seemed hesitant early, came on later; but it was too little too late as he won via unanimous decision. Then he should have faced KHABIB’s cousin; ABUBAKAR NURMAGOMEDOV, who replaced the injured JOAO ZEFERINO in the tournament. But after Abubakar beat BOJAN VELICKOVIC he had to pull out due to an injured hand (not from punching Conor McGregor either). When told he was moving on despite losing Bojan was in tears. Bojan showed a little more against Magomed; but he was still outgunned and was TKO’d 3:13 into round 2.
