TEXANS TOO TOUGH AT FIGHT NIGHT 126

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 126 from Austin Texas saw the top 3 fights won by Texans. Main event winner COWBOY CERRONE, co-main DERRICK LEWIS, and 3rd fight JAMES VICK. Derrick got a quick takedown, but Tybura was eventually able to get in top control. Lewis landed a monstrous right on MARCIN TYBURA; which dropped the powerful Pole and continued with GNP. Marcin attempted a kimura to no avail, but survived the round. Derrick continued to rock Marcin but got taken to the mat again. There Marcin connected with stinging short elbows staying in full mount for most of the round. Lewis then knew he had to go for broke and threw some seriously heavy combos; eventually getting Tybura to go down. It was a flurry of left hammer fists landing that sealed the KO win 2:48 into round 3.

James Vick wound up dislocating his pinkie in a back and forth scrap with FRANCISCO TRINALDO. Vick was the aggressor early; landing often, but when the action went to the mat Francisco attempted a choke but James escaped. “The Texecutioner” continued to land strikes and that’s when the injury happened. James then slowed the pace considerably; choosing to kick more and duck and move. After picking up the unanimous decision win, (his 4th win in a row); Vick said how frustrated he his of being ducked and wants a top opponent.

While in BELLATOR and LFA; CURTIS MILLENDER kept saying he wanted to be in the UFC. He finally got the chance, and boy did he shine. He over powered THIAGO ALVES early and often. Everything was on point; his knees, kicks, strikes, and GNP; twice dropping Thiago. Being the seasoned pro Alves was able to stick around and start to land some of his own shots. But as he’s done many times Curtis saw an opening, and once again in his career landed a big knee for a KO; at 4:17 of round 2. With his 7th win in a row he then let the rest of the welterweights know he’s coming for them.

BRANDON DAVIS and SAGE NORTHCUTT rounded out the main card both with unanimous decision wins. They came over STEVEN PETERSON and THIBAULT GOUTI respectively.

CARLOS FERREIRA KO’d JARED GORDON in the 1st round at 1:58. GEOFF NEAL got BRIAN CAMOZZI to tap to a RNC 2:48 of round 1. ROBERTO SANCHEZ did the same to JOBY SANCHEZ (no relation); but at 1:50 of the 1st round. SARAH MORAS dropped a unanimous decision to LUCIE PUDILOVAJOSH BURKMAN lost his 5th in a row. This time via guillotine choke at 2:12 into the fight vs ALEX MORONOOSKAR PIECHOTA picked up a 1st round TKO win at 1:51 over TIM WILLIAMS.
