The 2017 NFL Draft – 1st Round Rankings

  1. The first round of the NFL did not disappoint as the Bears shocked the world by trading up to get a QB at #2. There were many surprises as offense became a top choice in a very defense heavy draft. I have gone thru all 32 picks and ranked them from the best to the worst with comments on many of them. Let’s just hope the other six rounds are just as entertaining.

  2. Jamal Adams – NY Jets
    • The steal of the night. The best player on my board.
  3. Reuben Foster – San Francisco
    • A premium talent that nearly dropped out of the 1st round.
  4. Jonathan Allen – Washington
    • I think a lot of team will be kicking themselves that they let him pass by
  5. Solomon Thomas – San Francisco
    • The 49ers were the team of the night with two great choices
  6. Myles Garrett – Cleveland
    • A solid choice. So glad they passed on these subpar QB’s
  7. O.J. Howard – Tampa Bay
    • A dynamic TE that will dominate “Gronk” style
  8. Gareon Conley – Oakland
    • Let us all hope the accusations are incorrect. A great player.
  9. Takkarist McKinley – Atlanta
    • I was sad to see the Lions let him pass. Would have been dynamic with Ziggy on the other side
  10. Jabrill Peppers – Cleveland
    • A versatile player who should thrive at Safety with his total focus
  11. Derek Barnett – Tennessee
    • The Eagles did well to get a dominating lineman
  12. Marshon Lattimore – New Orleans
    • A big need filled with a quality talent
  13. Christian McCaffrey – Carolina
    • He will allow Cam Newton to have his best year as a pro
  14. Haason Reddick – Temple
    • A perfect fit for Arizona
  15. David Njoku – Cleveland
    • The Browns will be very pleased with his big play potential
  16. Mike Williams – San Diego
    • He may be the offensive rookie of the year if he gets in sync with Rivers
  17. Leonard Fournette – Jacksonville
    • A bit high for the RB, but he should be steady and produce 1,200 yards for the Jags
  18. Garrett Bolles – Denver
    • Fills a huge need for Denver
  19. Ryan Ramczyk – New Orleans
    • If healthy, he could go to Pro Bowls with his speed and size
  20. Taco Charlton – Dallas
    • A large force who could be prominent on the Cowboys D-Line
  21. Malik Hooker – Indianapolis
    • A serious playmaker who must avoid getting burned
  22. Marlon Humphrey – Baltimore
    • Not too fond of the player, but he is in a good system
  23. Charles Harris – Miami
    • A premium athlete who needs to add strength to compete in the NFL
  24. Corey Davis – Tennessee
    • While I like Williams better, he will be a nice addition for Mariota
  25. Adoree Jackson – USC
    • While a good return man, I think he struggles as a CB
  26. Jarred David – Detroit
    • I was pleased with the choice. Smart pick that fills a need.
  27. Evan Engram – NY Giants
    • Not my favorite pick, but his speed at the position may allow him to put up some numbers
  28. T.J. Watt – Pittsburgh
    • A good fit for the Steelers defensive style
  29. Tre’Davious White – Buffalo
    • Decent pick, nothing outstanding
  30. Deshaun Watson – Houston
    • Not a 1st round NFL talent, but the Texans have a need and took a chance. Should be able to beat out Savage for the job
  31. John Ross – Cincinnati
    • I do not see how he will have an impact as a WR. A reach for sure.
  32. Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City
    • Another over drafted QB. At least he has a decent mentor to help guide him.
  33. Mitchell Trubisky – Chicago
    • I feel sorry for him and the expectations the fans will have for him. Worst draft day move I can remember. A group of amateurs.
