A rising powerhouse has formed in the heavyweight division laying bodies at his feet. “THE PREDATOR” FRANCIS NGANNOU at UFC 218 continued his torrid pace of tearing up the competition. But the #4 ranked fighter was in there with the #1 seed; ALISTAIR OVEREEM; a true future Hall of Famer. The old lion wanted to prove the young cub still had a way to go as he himself is chasing the 1 title that has eluded him in his career- the UFC strap. Ngannou; who’s only been fighting for 4 years had different ideas though.

Overeem came out quick and Francis pushed the action into the cage. Alistair whiffed with a left hook as Ngannou countered with an absolutely rim rocking left uppercut of his own. Overeem dropped but was asleep before he hit canvas. Francis dropped down with a right hammer fist for good measure and would have thrown more if not for referee DAN MIRAGLIOTTA literally jumping on Overeem to save him at 103 seconds into the fight. It was Francis’s 7th 1st round finish and he’s now on a 10 fight win streak. The 11-1 Ngannou was told in the cage by JOE ROGAN he’s next in line for a title shot vs STIPE MIOCIC used his time to talk against slavery in Lybia the man who usually wears fancy suits to press conferences came dressed in full African garb. He’s the 4th to start a UFC career with 6 straight finishes joining RICH FRANKLIN, RONDA ROUSEY, and ANDERSON SILVA. He also has the longest winning streak in the division, one more than the champ Stipe.

The young man who lives and trains at the UFC performance institute now has his ticket and sights locked on Miocic. The speed edge is almost a draw, the power, and dangerous at that goes to Ngannou, the veteran smarts goes to Stipe. But we’ve seen how that doesn’t mean anything to Francis. Don’t blink when that fight goes down, it may not last more than a blink.
