It’s taken it seems like forever but finally the UFC made it’s first trip into RUSSIAUFC FIGHT NIGHT 136 went down in Moscow’s OLIMPLYSKIY STADIUM. The 1st historic fight was MERAB DVALISHVILI vs TERRION WARE. And after Merab did what grapplers do best; take down and smash their opponents for 3 rounds he became a trivia question answer. Who got the 1st ever UFC win in Russia. He got his 1st UFC win by unanimous decision. Then he decided to call out SEAN O’MALLEYRAMAZAN EMEEV came forward and rocked STEFAN SEKULIC a couple of times. He rolled his way to a 7 fight win streak via unanimous decision. ADAM YANDIEV came out of retirement undefeated, to face red hot undefeated JORDAN JOHNSON. So someone’s “O had to go”. It was Jordan who improved to 10-0 in his 1st fight at middleweight. The end came at 42 seconds of round 2 via a triangle choke. After having MARCIN PRACHNIO stung and back peddling; MAGOMED ANKALAEV landed a left head kick dropping Marcin at 3:09 into the fight. He went down after him and landed a few shots for good measure. MAIRBEK TASIUMOV is dangerous to begin with; but he missed weight by 5 pounds vs DESMOND GREEN. So their fight went as a catchweight. Early on Mairbek softened up Desmond with a strong kicking attack. Later Green found his striking range and opened up Tasiumov. They traded back and forth, cracking each other till the final horn; with Tasiumov getting the unanimous decision.

RUSTAM KHABILOV and KAJAN JOHNSON for the most part played rock em sock em robot. After the very close split decision win; Rustam is on a 6 fight win streak. JIN SOO SON also missed weight; in his UFC debut. Him and PETR YAN blasted each other early and often. Jin got a takedown and landed solid knees, finishing with straight rights to the face, and stood there with a big smile on his face. Petr forced the action into phonebooth fighting; landing solid shots. Jin got a double leg takedown but ate a flurry of elbows from the bottom by Yan. Petr was landing piston-like jabs; and connected with a sweet spinning elbow. All those strikes eventually opened Son up; but he still kept coming forward. Yan; after the unanimous decision is now on a 5 fight win streak. CB DOLLAWAY showed some fight early; but after he took a blistering liver kick from KHALID MURTAZALIEV it was all down hill. The resistance he gave was light. He was hit with a flurry of shots and continued to just cover up. Finally referee HERB DEAN waived the fight off after the 2nd round; which he could have done much sooner.

The main card opened with 2 unanimous decisions. After trading a flurry of kicks and knees all night the 34 year old ALEXEY KUNCHENKO won his UFC debut while improving to 19-0. The decision was over THIAGO ALVES. Alexey then called for a welterweight fight with COWBOY CERRONE SHAMIL ABDURAKHIMOV took legend ANDRE ARLOVSKI down early but didn’t do anything with the advantage. The duo exchanged strikes, and Andre was dropped then ate some GNP. Later Arlovski was able to get some takedowns of his own. They then got into the clinch with not much happening. Shamil wound up with the decision.

Both the co and main events surprisingly were finishes via submissions. NIKITA KRYLOV was out of the UFC for just under 2 years on the local Russian scene. He was welcomed back by the surging JAN BLACHOWICZ. They kicked each other early on then Nikita scored a takedown. However Jan did more work from the bottom and then got into side control. In the 2nd Jan was the one getting a takedown and worked some submission attempts. Finally from the side he cinched in a D’arce that Krylov tapped to 2:41 into round 2. After; Jan said he wants to fight DANIEL CORMIER for his light heavyweight title. But if he’s unwilling; he’d gladly take on ALEXANDER GUSTAFSSON. During fight week ALEKSEI OLEINIK joked that he wouldn’t be able to use his favorite submission; the esiquiel choke because MARK HUNT has “too fat of a neck”. Mark landed a pair of massive kicks to Aleksei then an absolutely vicious right hand that Oleinik somehow shook off. Hunt blasted him with another kick that wobbled Aleksei. Hunt brushed aside a takedown attempt but ate a pair of rights that put him on ice skates. Then Aleksei got his takedown and worked to take Mark’s back and lock in a RNC. At 4:22 into the fight Hunt tapped.
