THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER IS GETTING EXCITING AGAIN

The original premise of the program “THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER” was a good one. Find the next groups of talented fighters that you can see their “outside” personas and any issues they may have, and can they handle the heat. For the most part it has worked since day one. But as in any “reality” type program; jumping the shark, and becoming stale is a major pitfall. The hills are high but the valleys are very deep. For quite a few seasons TUF had been on a downward spiral. Recently though it has started to tick upwards yet again. TUF 25 “redemption” brought many good stories back. Now to see if it translates into decent careers is the million dollar question.

They are presently doing pre-production for season 26 “the female flyweights”. Which is guaranteed to be explosive and fun. Especially with the immense talent pool of women going from 115 and 135 to 125. At the same time early prep work begins for season 27. The UFC has just announced the coaches for 27 will be former lightweight champ EDDIE ALVAREZ and former WSOF champ and UFC new comer  JUSTIN GAETHJE. With Justin’s win over Michael Johnson it rocketed him up the rankings to number 6. And there are plenty of great killer match ups like KHABIB, FERGUSON, BARBOSA, KEVIN LEE, IAQUINTA, NATE DIAZ, but the guy who gets him is Eddie. Frankly; that’s a tougher match up for Alvarez than Conor McGregor was simply for the “crazy” than Justin is. It would be nice though if for season 28 (granted that’s a long ways away); they bolster the female featherweights. However 2 out of 3 seasons dedicated to women’s divisions is something the UFC would most likely NOT do.
