Another name has been announced for the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2019.

Former WWE women’s superstar and Playboy cover girl, Torrie Wilson.

Wilson’s induction is a bit of a surprise, but had gained traction in recent days as rumors swirled that she would be the female individual inductee of this year’s class.

Wilson appeared on mainstream wrestling programming for 10 years, debuting in WCW in 1999. Her time in WCW wasn’t all that exciting, she was used more as on air eye candy more than anything, but that changed once WWE purchased WCW in 2001. Wilson was one of the many contracts WWE decided to bring aboard and she if she could cut it on their programming.

Wilson surely delivered. Her and Stacy Keibler instantaneoulsy became fan favorites even as heels due to their appearance. Arguably one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the ring, Wilson over time developed solid in-ring skills and was able to earn the respect of the fans as an in-ring performer, not just based upon her looks. Although, Wilson was one of the pioneers of making the “Bra and Panties” as well as “Lingerie” matches so popular. What male over the age of 13 wouldn’t want to see that? WWE knew their core audience.

During her tenure in WWE (she left the company in 2008) Wilson found herself involved in several memorable story lines.

Her relationship with Tajiri during the Invasion story line helped boost Tajiri besides herself as an intriguing and entertaining part of the show. She was one of the very few WCW defections to the WWE side during the Invasion angle.

Wilson’s feud with Dawn Marie in September of 2002 to this day still goes down as one of the most memorable and bizarre feuds to ever happen on WWE television. Dawn Marie and Torrie’s father Al ended up in a relationship, eventually leading to their marriage in the beginning of January. Wilson and Marie had multiple matches during this feud, which culminated at the 2003 Royal Rumble in a “Step-Mother vs Step-Daughter” match. Who booked that shit? Oh, and Al tragically passed away (story line) due to the constant sex him and Marie had on their honeymoon the week after their wedding.

We can’t forget about the time Dawn Marie and Torrie Wilson kissed, either.

Yes, this all happened on broadcast television, folks.

Torrie is also a two time Playboy covergirl. She appeared on the cover solo in 2003 (which led to some hilarious Jamie Noble at the Playboy mansion vignettes) and with Sable in 2004. Her appearances on the Playboy covers led to some of the best sales in the history of the magazine, especially the dual with Sable.

Her later years in WWE featured her in many roles and on-screen relationships with the likes of Carlito and Billy Kidman. She formed a short lived alliance with Victoria and Candice Michelle as well.

After retirement in 2008, Wilson made a few cameo appearances for WWE, including competing in the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match in 2018.

Torrie Wilson will always be one of the most recognizable faces in WWE. Her induction in this year’s Hall of Fame class cements that.
